What is a horde survivor?
A horde survivor — also called a bullet heaven or survivor-like — flips the shooter formula around. Your hero attacks on their own; your job is to move, dodge and pick upgrades while wave after wave of monsters closes in. Every level-up offers a choice of new skills and potions, so each run grows into its own build. If you enjoy games like Vampire Survivors, Brotato or 20 Minutes Till Dawn, you will feel at home in Reign of Thorns.

How a run works
Each floor lasts ten minutes. Monsters pour in from every side while you collect XP orbs, level up and pick from a hand of upgrades. Minibosses arrive around the four and eight minute marks, treasure chests and Thorn Sigils wait out in the wilds, and when the timer runs out the Endless Swarm begins. Survive long enough to open the portal and descend to the next floor, where the horde grows stronger.
Build variety
Thirteen skills — from piercing Arrows and Fireballs to Cyclone, Frost Nova and a Phoenix — combine with potions that add projectiles, cast speed or area, and with items from chests that bend the rules. Three heroes, Wren, Ember and Ashen, each start with their own style.
